Cecil Beaton. Be daring, be different…

When Kinvara, our daughter and a graphic designer/artist, was researching Cecil Beaton in order to design the pamphlet for our exhibition (see Books & Records) she came across this excellent and well-loved quote, and it really resonated.

It sums up Cecil’s attitude to life; always moving forwards, trying stuff and not really caring what people thought of him. Kinvara is Cecil’s great, great niece and maybe she inherited some of his talent/flair, so there’s a nice narrative there.

One of the common threads that connect Caroline’s, Sarah’s and my personal style is that we all love bandanas. So, we kind of had to put them at the centre of this business.

Once you start wearing a bandana, you won’t go back. I love the look of them, of course, but (and this does sound a bit old man but so be it) I also love the warmth and comfort they offer.
